GREAT SEA REEF
One of Fiji’s true natural treasures. The Great Sea Reef covers an area of approximately 203,000 square kilometers and includes an amazing variety of marine life with 74% of the known coral types in Fiji, 55% of the coral fish species of Fiji, and 44% of the endemic fish species of Fiji.
A marine resource of global, regional and local importance that has been extensively protected by the people of Macuata and the extensive conservation work of their Paramount Chief Ratu Aisea Katonivere, ensuring the Great Sea Reef is protected for future generations.
Mavuva Island Limited is very focused on assisting these conservation efforts as much as possible. We look forward to working with other members of the Mavuva Island community to ensure the Great Sea Reef remains a protected natural resource.
